Description

Ruins of a limestone synagogue in Capernaum built over a 1st-century basalt foundation, at the site where Jesus established his Galilean ministry headquarters.

Biblical Significance

The basalt foundation beneath the visible limestone structure dates to the 1st century, consistent with the synagogue where Jesus taught and performed miracles (Mark 1:21-28, Luke 4:31-37).
