Description

An ancient clay cylinder inscribed in Akkadian cuneiform by Cyrus the Great of Persia, recording his conquest of Babylon and his policy of returning displaced peoples to their homelands.

Biblical Significance

Corroborates the biblical account in Ezra and 2 Chronicles of Cyrus issuing a decree allowing the Jewish exiles to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple.
